Collage recruitment film 22nd or 24th June
I joined Borders Youth Theatre at the age of eleven which provided a safe space to nurture my love of drama for over six years. I landed my first principal role in my third-year high school show - after which I was a lead principal until my sixth year. During this time, I partook in numerous productions around the Scottish Borders, as well as summer schools at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Edinburgh Playhouse, and The Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. I gained an interest in filmmaking and radio presenting in 2016 after joining ‘Voice of my Own TV/Radio’, where I created a host of short films and radio shows with local creators. There, I also met a directing student who asked me to act in a short film which she used for her showreel. I also took part in ‘National Theatre Connections’ with Borders Youth Theatre in 2017 and 2018, which allowed me to connect with other young people and perform at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh. In 2019, I voluntarily ran acting workshops at ‘Doune The Rabbit Hole Music Festival', where performed extracts of ‘The Tales of Beatrix Potter’ to young audiences, before leading groups of children in drama activities. My most fulfilling acting experience was sitting the Grade 7 LAMDA Acting exam in November 2019 and earning a Distinction. In preparation for the exam, I did meticulous research on the characters from my three chosen monologues and worked with a tutor twice a month from August – November. I found performing and receiving criticism from my tutor immensely rewarding, as I developed a deeper awareness of my acting style, broadened my understanding of Shakespeare and became more self-disciplined. I am currently working with Alchemy Film Festival as a member of Hadrian Creatives - an organisation dedicated to bolstering the expressive arts and providing a creative outlet in the Scottish Borders. I am also employed as a 'Ghost/ Historical Tour Guide' at Edinburgh's Auld Reekie Tours Ltd.
